REACT incident reporting team
What is the purpose of REACT?
In support of the SCASD Inclusive Excellence Board Policy 100.1, the REACT team was created to advance the expectation that all people are treated with dignity and should have the opportunity to learn, work, interact, and socialize in physically, emotionally and intellectually safe, respectful, and positive school environments, then it is our responsibility to promote a school climate consistent with these ideals.
The REACT team implements the work of the International Institute of Restorative Practices and aims to integrate Restorative Circles in our school community in an intentional way. Circles are a practice that can be used to develop relationships; build community; or respond to wrongdoing, conflicts, and problems by giving people an opportunity to speak and listen to one another in an atmosphere of safety and decorum.
What qualifies as an incident that could be reported to the react team?
An incident that could be reviewed by the REACT team is one in which language and/or actions demonstrate bias against persons because of, but not limited to, their race, color, religion, ethnic or national origin, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. What happens when I fill out a report?
The react team will receive the report and respond to you, as the incident reporter, within 24 hours, presuming you have provided a means of contact. You can identify a team member with whom you would be most comfortable for your initial contact. This team member will seek additional information regarding the incident, provide support resources, and schedule a time to meet with you, if appropriate. The team will then explore options for resolution, including the possibility of a Restorative Circle or Conference.
What happens when I report anonymously?
The react team members will receive your report. The team will decide whether the report is actionable. If no action is possible or necessary, the incident will be documented. If the incident is actionable, a team member will communicate with involved parties, develop a plan to resolve the issue, and document the resolution.
Who is on the react team?
The react team is comprised of committed faculty and students at our school. All members of the react team have received training in Restorative Practices. Faculty team members include:

This team works in collaboration with our school counseling office, administration, and the office of equity.
