Lifeguard Training Full Course-Fall

Fall 2024 Lifeguard Training - Full course:
Must be at least 15 years of age by October 5
 
Course Dates: TBD
If any make-up dates are need to finish any testing, those days will be October 8th, 9th and 10th as needed. The class will run Monday through Friday after school 4:00pm - 6:30pm. If all requirements (skills, testing, etc.) are completed earlier than the last date scheduled, the course will end at an earlier date as deemed appropriate. Attendance at all class dates is mandatory.
 

The pretest skills you must perform on the first day are as follows:

  • Swim 300 yards continuously.
    • Participants may choose to swim front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both
    • Competency in all aspects of strokes, especially breathing and kicking, is required
  • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breast stroke, surface dive 10feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object, keeping the face out of the water, and exit the pool without using steps or a ladder, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes without support or stopping.  Only legs can be used, with hands under the armpits.  Head must remain out of the water.

All class candidates must be able to pass all above mentioned skills to be admitted into the course.

Lifeguard Training (Full course) Fees:

  • SCASD Student: $140.00
  • Non-SCASD Student: $225.00
Cost includes all necessary materials for the course (book, masks, whistle, first aid supplies, etc.)
