Career-related Programme
At the school’s request, the IB has suspended the authorization of State College Area High School to offer the
Career-related Programme (CP). During the suspension of authorization, the school is not offering the
suspended programme to allow for district alignment, rebuilding the programme and increasing recruitment
efforts. The school expects to resume teaching the Career-related Programme (CP) in the 2024-2025 academic
year pending successful efforts to restore.
IB offers the Career-related Programme for 11th and 12th grade students.
Requirements for the Career-related Programme certificate are as follows:
2 Diploma Programme Courses
Courses are offered at Higher and Standard Level; students are required to take one HL and one SL and earn a score of 3 or higher on exams

4 Core Components
- Personal and Professional Skills Course (PPS)
- Course scheduled in 11th and 12th grade
- Service Learning Project (SL)
- 50 hours (planning, implementation and reflection - documented in a portfolio)
- Language Development (LP)
- 50 hours (create a portfolio documenting use of learning and applying another language)
- Reflective Project (RP)
- 50 hours (students identify, analyse, critically discuss and evaluate an ethical issue arising from accounting and finance. Must pass the Reflective Project along with the other components to receive the IB CP certificate
- Option 1 = 3000 word essay
- Option 2 = 1500-2000 word essay + one of the following formats, short film, spoken presentation, interview, play or display
